golf clubs fly free on af klm flights if you register

I have in the past talked about many ways HERE and HERE that you can avoid bag fees. This one does not always work but since you only get one bag FREE going to Europe in coach, why not look at this possible workaround to save $100 for your second bag internationally.

Now as you can see from the screen shot above, you can sign up for the KLM Flying Blue golf where your clubs go free (i.e. an extra bag over the one free you normally get).

Is there a downside to this? Yes, there are some real downsides for example if earning Skymiles are your main concern for the trip. Officially you need to have your Flying Blue number in the reservation and you must print the voucher for each direction to get the perk. You could, after check-in, try to change your number online but it will be a YMMV situation (or risk before or after printing your bag voucher). Also, it could be a good idea to have “that special putter” in with your other things in your “hard case” golf bag that may have things inside other than just your putter (you should pack things around it to keep it safe anyway). Then there is transporting your hard case in a taxi etc.

So maybe this idea is not the perfect solution to avoid the $200 round trip extra bag fee. But if you are on a cheap ticket, and don’t care much about points and mostly are worried about cost do keep this little gem mind as an option if you really want it! 😉 – René

Possible overpricing for Medallions and new Atlanta International Terminal opening day

My fellow Boarding Area blogger Points, Miles & Martinis does a great job giving us a photo tour of day one of the new international terminal and company CEO has done the rounds on TV as well: click photo to play video The other big news for the day is that no one likes paying a higher price for the exact same product. Delta states on their web site about the “Best Fare Guarantee”: “If … Continue reading

Tax Day – Can I pay with a credit card?

photo credit: tryingteaching.com Hopefully you’re getting, or have already received, a refund rather than having to pay up! If you end up owing money  this year to Uncle Sam, have you ever thought of earning some Delta Skymiles with your payment? The IRS allows payments by credit card and has a helpful table to show you what rates their payment processors charge as “convenience fees” for various forms of payment. Has Delta’s onboard WiFi changed the way you fly?

Today’s post is biased and I say that with unabashed pride. I love being connected as a blogger. Many of my fellow bloggers have also said how much onboard WiFi has changed how they get stuff done. Delta has been aggressively expanding the implementation of almost fleet wide WiFi service from GoGo and you can even track progress on the Delta.com web site. Pricing for the service, to me, for long haul flights seems right … Continue reading

What is it worth to you to “fly” through security?

I loved my last trip to Florida where I ended up getting PAID for the 3 day vacation in the sun where for the first time I almost RAN through security. All the things we loathe like shoes off, laptops out, belts off and radiation dosing scanners that “One Mile at a Time” refuses no matter what was not an issue for me as I had the old trusted metal detector flavor. Having done this … Continue reading

Fees fees fees….. Are you ready when they “fly” at you? Think before you act.

I really don’t want to jump into the debate concerning whether or not the new law forcing airlines to post the full price is good or not for us as flyers, but it does cover an interesting point that is talked about here in the MSNBC news video: Recently I had a great rental experience with Enterprise during my last ski trip to Salt Lake talked about in this blog post unlike the horrible one … Continue reading

So we fly Delta – how will the new law affect the way we look at price per ticket?

from the Spirit Web site Boy has the new rule made a ton of people or  companys  either mad or  happy. Now I have never ever been on a Spirit plane nor do I ever plan on ever getting on one. I hate that they charge more than Ryan air even does for everything. I bet if they had the oxygen mask deployed in an emergency situation, they would ask for your credit card “before … Continue reading
