I came home around lunch today and, as I often do, checked my current list of 12 upcoming flights on my Delta.com at https://www.delta.com/mytrips (must be logged in to see your list).
What I found was some flights had just tiny changes. Others had some massive changes; one flight had my departure, in a connecting city, leaving 2 hours before I got there. Medallion rep said, “well that will not work”. I agreed.
Now before you go calling or tweeting to Delta, please look over THIS post about the mighty schedule change. It really is worth its weight in GOLD. I LOVE me some Delta schedule changes. What you want to do, or at least what I do, is do a one way search on the day I want to change from point A to point B. That way, I KNOW I have all legal and approved routes that any Delta rep will be able to pull up.
I also check how many MQMs I would earn before and see if I can do any of the following:
1) Find better routes for MORE MQMs
2) Find better routes that offer a better product ie full flats
3) Find routes that have more Delta metal than partners
4) Find routes that have longer or shorter layovers
5) Add legs where I maybe only had 2 now I can have 3 or the other way round
BTW our friends at CWSI.net have great tool to check how many miles you get from whatever route! I could go on and on but the key thing is to check first before calling if you do qualify. If you don’t, it may be worth a call anyway as if there are enough changes many reps will acquiesce to reasonable requests.
Have fun! – René

Have you noticed all of the fitness equipment in the sales flyers that everyone got at the 1st of year (and then never got touched)? Does that help with any of your newly self assigned goals to eat right, exercise more, take better care of yourself, or spend more time with your family (I know silly for us who fly all the time but still)? Or maybe you’ve decided this is the year you’re going … Continue reading
Remember when getting ready for take off pretty much meant getting rid of cups and crayons and making sure your seat belt was fastened? Now we have to power down our phones, tablets, noise canceling headphones, put the laptop away, oh, and get rid of cups and crayons and make sure the seat belt is fastened! When all goes well it’s a short wait from taxi to take-off and then we hear the tone that … Continue reading
Delta Points readers are at all levels of knowledge. There are those Flyer Talkers who know enough to speak an entire weekend at a “DO” to those who don’t know what a Flyer Talker is or what a “DO” is. You know what, we all have to start somewhere and that is just fine by me. All of us who have been at this for a while simply tend to forget that everyone does … Continue reading
I have a question for you all, but first “let’s poke a bear with a stick” and see how worked up I can get everyone today! What am I talking about? Just this: One of the biggest complaints against us, bloggers that is, is that we “kill deals” by telling them to the masses. We get an e-mail or tips from readers or see the deal crop up some place like Mile Point or Flyer … Continue reading
Talk about a win-win-win for our airline! Not only are a ton of CRJ’s 100/200 going away, but SW Air will be paying for the conversion of the 717’s to Delta specifications according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Delta shareholders sure should be proud of all the recent choices Delta is making to improve the bottom line. I also applaud Delta for not just making these an “upgraded” CRJ fleet of 88 jets, but fully integrating … Continue reading
I am very sympathetic to those with allergies. I love cats. I don’t have any right now, but had the most adorable one ever on the planet for 18 years! But I have had friends over who are so cat allergic that they, after a very short time, can not breath or see as their “breathing parts” (can you tell I am not an MD) just go crazy even when the adorable fuzzy one was … Continue reading
One of the nice perks from Delta when you are a GOLD Medallion or higher flyer is that you get free upgrades on award tickets. Now most of us are aware that if we do not get the upgrade, Delta will give us a “HOOU” coupon. But are you missing out on yours to save some ink or toner in your printer? What am I going on about? Well check this out (TIP USE IE … Continue reading
Syd-Koster outside Strömstad I try to never too much shamelessly plug the “old country” Sweden but since I run a blog, ah, this one time, why not! Have you ever thought about visiting Sweden? Many of my fellow BoardingArea bloggers have and can attest to the fact it is a beautiful county to visit. Not just that, but did you know that seasonally Delta flies a direct flight, DL202, from JFK-ARN (New York to Stockholm)? … Continue reading
I hate spiders. I admit I have an almost unbalanced fear of them that could use psychiatric help. Yes, it is that bad. I get that spiders need to live for the balance of the ecology, but I would take more gnats, flies, bugs or you name it if all spiders became extinct. Slightly lower on my list than spiders comes cell phone calls on an airplane. I also freely admit I have a … Continue reading
I have said how much I love living where I do. The middle is just nice. I have EZ access to the “Windy City” for Stay-cations whenever a point breaks room is found. I can fly out of SBN, AZO, FWA, GRR, IND, MDW, ORD & DTW all within a 3 hr drive. I could go on and on, but you can not all move here to the great Midwest! But if you live in … Continue reading
What is the one topic that is worse than religion, taxes or politics to talk about? No not that; it is seat recline and your right / non-right to do so. Every day I use my laptop and I feel the screen a little loose from my incident on this trip I hollered about on Flyer Talk, I have been giving thought to trying one of these little puppies called Knee Defenders. photo from businesstravellogue.com … Continue reading
Delta Air Lines is giving us a warning to very carefully check out e-Mails and not to just click on them (good advice always anyway) as there seems to be a Phishing one going around that looks like it came from Delta. You can read about it HERE at the Delta web site. Also time for today’s daily NON-PHISHING DeltaPoints.com e-Mail winner! Today’s winner is: #323 – Heidi! Congratulations and I will email you soon. … Continue reading
I love this Swedish saying and it translates to “away is good but home is best“! And you know, I feel that way about my Delta Air Lines after my recent trip and will go so far as to say I like the Delta business class “travel experience” better than United / Lufthansa 1st class. I proudly say I am biased toward my beloved airline, even with all it’s faults, and why do I say … Continue reading
photo credit: Lori Barber – CBSDFW.COM Mental illness is nothing to laugh about when it happens to someone you know or love. We may snicker over the recent AA attendants video of “get off the plane” scream but even those giggling in the video I bet were scared! Mental illness, as we have seen of late with JetBlue, can impact many others when the sick person is put in trust of the lives of many … Continue reading
