JFK-SLC-MSY April 2016 Delta RouteMap

JFK-SLC-MSY April Delta Trip KAYAK Choices

JFK-SLC-MSY April Delta Trip Summary

Here is another great domestic mileage run that René did just last week.  Another almost same-day run, although it really is an overnight flight between New York City and New Orleans.  Leave either at 7:00am or 11:00am and connect through Salt Lake City and then you are off to New Orleans.  You can a short night in New Orleans or a long layover and get back to New York early the next evening, around 6:00pm.

6,834 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s) will be your reward for this quick trip on Delta Air Lines.  Now, I have only found one date that works; April 6th with a return on the 7th.

Let me caution anyone thinking they might get upgraded to First Class on these flights.  It is probably not going to happen flying into and out of Salt Lake City.

One of my greatest discomforts is when I fly a mileage run through a Delta hub which is heavy-Medallion territory and your chances of getting a complimentary upgrade is minimal.  That is why this run as a simple overnight is tolerable and a good value for a little more than $200.

Anyway here are the numbers:

The Details:

MQM’s:     6,834 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s)

Fare:         $223

Cost:   3.3 Cents Per Mile (CPM)

Please login to your Delta account before you click on the booking link below:

This link books through Kayak and then onto  – DIRECT BOOKING LINK

I like this trip since it is still before Delta’s change on Comfort+ booking policies.  That happens for travel on or after May 16th, 2016.  There are many Comfort+ seats still available for your selection on these four segments.

Thank you for visiting and following us, hopefully throughout 2016 here at Renes Points and Elite Mileage Runs  Best Wishes and Happy Travels. Enjoy your travels!  – John @laptoptravel

Miami to Anchorage $854 & 8654 MQMs at 10CPM 2015 Overnight Weekend Delta Elite Mileage Run

Monday, December 14, 2015  by John @laptoptravel I know this is not an ideal Mileage Run, but let me say that it is really getting ugly here the last few days to take a Mileage Run before 2015 ends.  I am hearing from a lot of you that you “just need something” to get you over the MQM hump for the year. On the plus side it is a WEEKEND RUN, and it is after … Continue reading

Are Delta “trinkets and beads” enough to offset horrid frequent flyer program changes?

The above was waiting for me on a recent flight from Minneapolis to Seattle on my EAT run. They also had, at many of the gates in MSP, a rather large bowl of candy where anyone could help themselves to a few (btw, my hometown South Bend airport has had that for a LONG time). Was I impressed? Sure, this was a nice touch and was appreciated. But “Mardi Gras” trinkets and beads are only … Continue reading

2015 Delta Diamond Medallion credentials – At long last, Delta sent me mine. Have you got yours? #BragTag

I really did not “need” this year’s #BragTags. I still use old tags, but I have to admit that it really did bug me that it took so long for Delta to send off my kit to me. So let’s see what is inside. After a welcome letter, the first part is a pair of aluminum Diamond tags. Just like last year’s. No Skymiles number or bar code on the back as was the case … Continue reading

So am I the last medallion on earth waiting for their Delta #BRAGTAG?

OK, I know this is just silly. After all, I have my last two years of Delta Diamond Medallion tags still (no I did not sell them on Ebay like most others). But it still just bugs me for some reason. What really bugs me is not having my HOOU and JWD certs. Now I know you are saying René you have only missed 2 upgrades this year. True, but I have been stuck on … Continue reading

No more Silver Medallion cards or bag tags – CPU printing only for 2015

If you are a Gold, Platinum or Diamond Medallion, and for whatever reason lose your medallion card, all you do is log on to to My Wallet and click on “Re-Order” and Delta will send you a new one in a few weeks. This is the same card all medallions get in the year kit. Now this is “just” the card. Unlike the kit that includes bag tags and for Platinums and Diamonds HOOU … Continue reading

Delta GOLD Medallion status & 30,000 Skymiles for just 8 trips promotion! For Washington, Oregon and Alaska residents!

As you can see, if you have NO status but live in Washington, Oregon or Alaska and join Skymiles and register you can very quickly jump up to Silver Medallion status with Delta. Then keep flying and it gets better. After six trips you are GOLD but after eight you are GOLD and you have earned up to 30,000 Skymiles as well, worth at least $300 if you do Pay with Miles (must have a … Continue reading

Another Medallion downgrade from Delta – Platinums no longer JFK-LAX/SFO upgrade eligible. #KeepDescending

Being Platinum sure is not what it once was. There are a BUNCH of Diamonds out there (and why not). I am sure if you are a Platinum you are going to see a bunch less upgrades this year over last year. As I blogged about the other day, Delta is now allowing all medallions to upgrade on the JFK-SEA route but it is no longer a “Delta ONE” type route. On the plus side … Continue reading

Negative impact on medallion upgrades from Skymiles2015 & FCM. How bad will 2015 be?

My fellow BA blogger from “The Gate” Brian Cohen had a post yesterday, that entertainingly, talked about the fact that many FlyerTalkers did not see Skymiles2015 was “the bloodbath” they were expecting. Now this in itself is a HUGE comment about the new Delta program – members are happy it was NOT as bad as they expected. I ask you, when you buy a new car, TV or anything you value, do you always first … Continue reading

Changes to 2016 Delta Medallion program – HIGHER MQDs!

According to TPG the above is what is on the way for the 2016 Medallion year. I reached out to Delta to confirm and was told more info would be released tomorrow. First off, if the info is correct, this is REALLY great news. I say that because it could have been MUCH worse. Plus, the best part, the $25,000 MQD exempt spend is NOT changing and that will be just as simple to meet … Continue reading

Rookie Wednesday: Medallions – Careful not to sabotage your own upgrades! Details do matter.

Welcome to a weekly feature on the Renés Points blog. Each week this series covers in a “rookie” way either a Delta or travel related theme and attempts to break down to a basic level each topic. You can read up on all the previous posts HERE. Now on to this week’s feature. The above is what we all want to see in our inbox. After all, medallion upgrades are one of the biggest … Continue reading

Delta devalues Skybonus Silver Medallion awards up to 43% – no advance notice!

I am clearly a big fan of Skybonus and it, along with CrossoverRewards is a great way to “extra” dip each flight you take on Delta. Now some may not consider Silver Medallion status all that great since the largest rewards and recognition from Delta starts with the Gold Medallion level. However, for Delta now and then flyers Silver Medallion (FO) status truly is a sweet perk and if you work that status the right … Continue reading

Would you love or hate to have this job: Sr. Project Mgr. Skymiles Medallion Program

What is next? We all want to know. What will be the next “enhancement” to come down the line for Skymiles and Medallions? We can look both to the past as well as peeking at job openings to see what upper management is thinking. First the past. We just recently saw HOOU choices downgrades. Moving back in time we have upgrades taken away from NYC, same day change gutting, T72, numerous point devaluations, Delta … Continue reading

Reminder: Delta Choice Benefits expiring 1MARCH2014

Don’t click anything until you are CLEAR in your head what you are doing as it can cost you. Then again, under some conditions if you don’t click they will be gone. Let me try to make something confusing not confusing. Choice benefits are issued in the year you FLY your status, not the year you earned it. That means you could have started on January 1st 2012 with NO STATUS at all, flown 125,000 … Continue reading
