Well, I am back from my Massive Mileage Run to SouthEast Asia (Japan, Thailand and S. Korea)! It’s not like I was ever really gone; I still did posts and twitter, of course.  And I did look for Mileage Runs while on that trip…but it is much harder without all of my (proprietary) tools!  So, here’s a leap day gift for everyone!

I found this great run between Seattle and New Orleans!  Before you even ask; YES, it works in both directions!  In fact I find more (that is, more of them…) cheaper fares from New Orleans to Seattle than originating from Seattle.  Although I did find a single date that works for $198 from Seattle to New Orleans.

Most of the fares from Seattle to New Orleans are $204, plus the one I found (May 3rd, an overnight with a May 4th return) for $198.  I found several from New Orleans to Seattle at the $198 fare.

Either way, the best you can do is 5,477 MQM’s at about 3.6 CPM.  The layover on many of the flights is less than two hours, so these are easily done in a flight plus a connection in either direction; most involving either an overnight flight or a required one night stay.  But there are much things worse than a night in New Orleans (or Seattle if you’re Sleeepless…)

There are also routings that will only give you 5,362 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s) but still either 5362 or 5477 you are getting a great deal!  If you could fine two of these back-to-back at $198 each you could use FlexPerks and book the pair for only 20,000 points!  Now that would be a sweet deal!

Let me caution anyone thinking they might get upgraded to First Class on these flights.  It is probably not going to happen flying into and out of Salt Lake City.

One of my greatest discomforts is when I fly a mileage run through a Delta hub which is heavy-Medallion territory and your chances of getting a complimentary upgrade is minimal.  That is why this run as a simple overnight is tolerable and a good value for a little more than $200.

Anyway here are the numbers:

The Details:

MQM’s:     5,477 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s)

Fare:         $204

Cost:   3.7 Cents Per Mile (CPM)

or

MQM’s:     5,362 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s)

Fare:         $198

Cost:   3.6 Cents Per Mile (CPM)

Please login to your Delta account before you click on the booking link below:

This link books through Kayak and then onto Delta.com  – DIRECT BOOKING LINK

Both fares are eligible for Pay With Miles, if you want to “buy down” the fare. You will still get the MQM’s, but you are reducing your redeemable miles as they are tied to the base fare PAID.

I like this trip since it is still before Delta’s change on Comfort+ booking policies.  That happens for travel on or after May 16th, 2016.  There are many Comfort+ seats still available for your selection on these four segments. Thank you for visiting and following us, hopefully throughout 2016 here at Renes Points and Elite Mileage Runs

Best Wishes and Happy Travels. Enjoy your travels!  – John @laptoptravel

Saturday, January 23, 2016 by John @laptoptravel         This Dallas to West Coast USA Mileage Run deal just continues along.  We have found (and flown) many in the past few months.  Now here is a chance to work it San Diego, the southernmost airport in California for Delta and therefore the one that gets you the most Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s) for your flying dollars. As you can see from the calendars and … Continue reading

Boston to Los Angeles Same-Day Delta Elite Mileage Run $159 & 5271 MQM’s at 3.CPM

Wednesday, January 20, 2016  by John @laptoptravel Now….Los Angeles to Boston I just love a same-day transcontinental flight, especially when it is a sub- 4 Cents Per Mile (CPM) Mileage Run.  And a bonus to boot; I found a route with flat-bed seats on one segment that are eligible for complimentary upgrades! So, American Airlines this morning sent out an “attack fare” on Boston to Los Angeles round-trip.  Delta just responded by offering this $159 … Continue reading

Dallas to Las Vegas 1st class $557 & 8210 MQMs at 6.8CPM One-Day Delta Elite Mileage Run

Wednesday, December 3, 2015 by John @laptoptravel Who doesn’t like a Business/First Class Elite Mileage Run? Look what I found for you today; It is a First Class Delta Air Lines itinerary from Dallas to Las Vegas. You have a single day when this fare is the lowest; Depart on Sunday, December 20th and return the next day, Monday. I really tried to make this work through Detroit both ways, but it just isn’t price-friendly … Continue reading

Las Vegas to San Juan $577 & 9144 MQMs 6CPM Weekday Delta Elite Mileage Run

Saturday, November 28, 2015 by John @laptoptravel Let me follow-up my last Mileage Run post (which was San Diego to San Juan) with another trip headed to the warm, sunny shores of San Juan, Puerto Rico. This may not have the same appeal for Californians as for those stuck in the harsher northern climates, but it is still MQM’s on the cheap. Perhaps many of you could reposition to Las Vegas to take advantage … Continue reading

San Diego to San Juan $555 & 9144 MQMs at 6.1CPM Delta Elite Mileage Run Year End 2015

Saturday, November 28, 2015  by John @laptoptravel We are currently seeing a theme in Mileage Runs…and I actually have two posts today for the beautiful, sunny shores of San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a Hawaii-raised flyer, I am naturally drawn to these beach destinations for Mileage Runs. In fact, in a few days I will actually be doing my own 15,000 MQM Mileage Run to Costa Rica for a crazy $230.40 and 15,000 SkyMiles for … Continue reading

Miami to Seattle $278 & 6369MQMs at 4.4CPM weekday Delta Mileage Run

If you don’t mind a redeye, and flying for just about 24 hours round trip, this one will work for you. The lowest rate seems to be from MIA but your are at just about the same number from SEA with a HT to TFD for the find. It seems, from ITA Matrix anyway, there should be some weekend only dates but I could not find them. Worth a look other months. Here are the … Continue reading

ALERT: Anchorage to Minneapolis $388-1st/$195-coach & 8048/5365MQMs at 4.8/3.6CPM weekday or weekend Delta Mileage Run

Oh I am just giddy over this one and may just have to book one just don’t know what day I will pick. There are SO many ways to do this. You can run it coach for lowest price. Or, what I like, book in 1st with 20k FlexPerks points as you are just under $400 for a ticket in 1st class and can do it all in just one very long day. It does … Continue reading

Cincinnati / Detroit to Miami $178 & 3364MQMs at 5-ish CPM weekday Delta HUB run (one day RT)

I really thought about breaking this into two posts but this was just simpler. This is not a bad deal at all for a HUB run that is one you do not have to position to take. Normally I like to, under SkyMiles 2015, to have a run at about 4CPM for a weekday but for a hub captive to do this all in one day from home works! You decide. You can work this … Continue reading

Miami to San Francisco $308 & 6450MQMs at 4.8CPM weekday redeye Delta Mileage Run

This one does work both ways. The price is not bad at all sub 5CPM if you route both ways via DTW. There are some downsides of this run. You are talking redeye either way and you are talking about a very hard to get redeye upgrade from SFO as it is almost always full. But, you can not fault the price. Here are the numbers: Cost $308 6,450 MQMs at 4.8CPM Bookable on Delta.com … Continue reading

ALERT: Detroit to Miami $172 & 4058MQMs at 4.2CPM weekday Delta Mileage Run

This is about perfect as from the DTW hub you can get this done in just one long day at just over 4CPM all-in with a HUGE HT to reader Eric for the tip. I have created quick links in KAYAK for each of the days just log in to Delta.com first then click the link you want for June 3 or June 9 or June 16 or June 30. EDIT: You may want to … Continue reading

Seattle to Anchorage 1st class $363 & 4344MQMs at 8.4CPM weekend / weekday Delta Mileage Run

This is a nice way to take a “one day” run and even bookable on a weekend. You can book them as one-way tickets, should you wish, and it works to or from either airport. Since booking in 1st you get meals both ways too! Not a bad way to pick up a nice chunk of MQMs. With a HT to FT for the find here are the numbers: Cost $363 4,344 MQMs at 8.4CPM … Continue reading

Portland to Saint Martin $488 & 9980MQMs at 4.9CPM weekday Delta Mileage Run

There really is just one reason I love this – Maho Beach in November! Oh and a boatload of MQMs for sub 5CPM is nice too. The downside is unless you are DM you are going to be 100% going to be spending the transcon in coach. But, a day at SXM is just fun. Here is one option you could do: Cost $488 9,980 MQMs at 4.9CPM Bookable on Delta.com If you tinker around … Continue reading

Phoenix to St. Thomas $268 & 6962MQMs at 3.9CPM weekday Delta Mileage Run

If there such a thing as a great red-eye this is it. You depart PHX at night and are back in just about 24 hours. Not a bad way to pick up a large chunk of MQMs and you get a few hours to look at St. Thomas. If I were going to do this one I would make it a mini-vacation run and stay for a day and play but it works either way. … Continue reading
