Happy Fourth of July, everyone! If you’re celebrating, I hope you’re having a great time! (And being responsible: please call Uber, Lyft — just make sure the trunk is closed! — a friend, or a family member if you need a lift home.) If you’re stuck at work or somewhere you can’t see fireworks, don’t feel left out! We’ve got you covered. Because most of us are AvGeeks and love views from above, here are some fun YouTube videos of fireworks seen from airplanes and drones! This one isn’t as dramatic as it sounds — but there’s still some pretty cool footage: Enjoy the rest of your holiday evening! Saturday, May 28, 2016   by John @laptoptravel Let’s follow-up our earlier post, a First Class Mileage Run from Austin to San Francisco with a Los Angeles to Austin run.  Yes, this one is also a First Class run that comes in under 7 Cents Per Mile (CPM)! I am finding a few First Class Mileage Runs, and most are coming from or going to West Coast hubs. I love it when we can share a good First Class (domestic Business) Mileage Run, and you really should take advantage, since these seemed to have recently dried up.  Anytime one pops up I try to take advantage if it works out with my schedule.  After all, First Class means 1.5 times air miles flown for MQM’s and you usually get a meal, plus some of the best service in the skies from a domestic airline! Routing through Minneapolis in both directions maximizes your…

Wednesday, May 18, 2016   by John @laptoptravel Sample Overnight Itinerary Summer Fare Calendar Available Dates in July and August Following up on our recent Mileage Run post, San Francisco to Dublin, we offer a Caribbean Summer Sale and Mileage Run for our American Airlines AAdvantage readers and followers. If you do not follow us yet on Twitter, then please click here to start!  That will keep you ‘in the loop’ with the latest Mileage Run tweets. Today, I found that American Airlines is aggressively pricing cheap fares to Puerto Rico.  I have been tweeting many of these, but wanted to offer this fantastic SUMMER DEAL here, since it covers two full months and has so many available dates for travel; plus it these can be simple Mileage Run itineraries or full vacation fares. I did a similar run not too far back and I paid about $70 more for the flights.…

Monday, March 7, 2016   by John @laptoptravel The only dates that work for Los Angeles to Miami are the following: March 12 March 19 March 26 May 3rd May 10th Well, we are seeing a lot of selective fare attacks which began last week and I am hopeful will continue through this week.  This one is a great opportunity to fly across the country and still be eligible for a complimentary upgrade (they still do that, right?) at least it is not a JFK to/from San Francisco or Los Angeles DeltaONE where those upgrades cost you some type of instrument (GUC’s, RUC’s or miles-with certain fare classes). Nope this is a great little run that works in both directions!  Miami to Los Angeles via Atlanta in one direction or Los Angeles to Miami, also via a single Atlanta connection. Typically, this fare will run you between $250 and $450, but for…

Wednesday, January 20, 2016  by John @laptoptravel Now….Los Angeles to Boston I just love a same-day transcontinental flight, especially when it is a sub- 4 Cents Per Mile (CPM) Mileage Run.  And a bonus to boot; I found a route with flat-bed seats on one segment that are eligible for complimentary upgrades! So, American Airlines this morning sent out an “attack fare” on Boston to Los Angeles round-trip.  Delta just responded by offering this $159 round-trip from Boston to Los Angeles.  It also works from Los Angeles to Boston for $168. We only found it for same-day on one date for the BOS-LAX route and two dates for the LAX-BOS routes, as shown in the calendar above… These are available on Delta.com, so you can simply use their own “Book a Flight” to find these… You can do an overnight, or even up to 3 nights for the same price……
