Miami to Los Angeles Dates (Click for Dates)

The only dates that work for Los Angeles to Miami are the following:

  • March 12
  • March 19
  • March 26
  • May 3rd
  • May 10th

Well, we are seeing a lot of selective fare attacks which began last week and I am hopeful will continue through this week.  This one is a great opportunity to fly across the country and still be eligible for a complimentary upgrade (they still do that, right?) at least it is not a JFK to/from San Francisco or Los Angeles DeltaONE where those upgrades cost you some type of instrument (GUC’s, RUC’s or miles-with certain fare classes).

Nope this is a great little run that works in both directions!  Miami to Los Angeles via Atlanta in one direction or Los Angeles to Miami, also via a single Atlanta connection.

Typically, this fare will run you between $250 and $450, but for a little less than $190 it is a good fare and a Mileage Run opportunity. You might even get lucky and get a bumpertunity with an Atlanta connection!

Either way, the best you can do is 4,883 MQM’s at about 3.9 CPM.  The layover on my sample flight is a little over three hours. Of course, you can also make that date into an overnight stay.

There are also routings that will only give you 4,684 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s) (those are non-stop flights) so check the connections.  If you could fine two of these back-to-back at $189 each you could use FlexPerks and book the pair for only 20,000 points!  Now that would be a sweet deal!

Let me caution anyone thinking they might get upgraded to First Class on these flights.  It is probably not going to happen flying into and out of Atlanta.

One of my greatest discomforts is when I fly a mileage run through a Delta hub which is heavy-Medallion territory and your chances of getting a complimentary upgrade is minimal.  That is why this run as a simple overnight is tolerable and a good value for a little less than $190.

Anyway here are the numbers:

The Details:

MQM’s:     4,883 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s)

Fare:         $189

Cost:   3.9 Cents Per Mile (CPM)

Please login to your Delta account before you click on the booking link below:

Both fares are eligible for Pay With Miles, if you want to “buy down” the fare. You will still get the MQM’s, but you are reducing your redeemable miles as they are tied to the base fare PAID.

I like this trip since it is still before Delta’s change on Comfort+ booking policies.  That happens for travel on or after May 16th, 2016.  There are many Comfort+ seats still available for your selection on these four segments. Thank you for visiting and following us, hopefully throughout 2016 here at Renes Points and Elite Mileage Runs

So following up after our incredible “Houston to Hong Kong $589 and 17246 EQMs at 3.4CPM (Potential of 34492) Miles American Airlines Elite Mileage Run” post from a couple of weeks ago, I am featuring another another American Airlines Mileage Run for you AAdvantage members (or wannabees.)

Here is a chance to escape the winter blues in New York and hop on a plane to Miami and spend a night and the next day to enjoy the sunshine, warmth and beach before you have to return. A worthy Mileage Run, I hope you would agree.  This one is priced at a CRAZY $72 for New York’s JFK airport to Miami.  You can do a same-day, if you really want to, but why I ask.

Although you are flying in ‘Q’ fare class you still earn your Elite Qualifying Miles as shown:

LAX-SJU Feb Mar 2016 American Earnings Chart

In addition, Executive Platinum and Platinum members will earn a 100% bonus and Gold members will earn a 25% bonus, based on the flight miles or minimum miles guaranteed, when traveling with American Airlines.

Elite Mileage Bonus Benefits

Executive Platinum    100%

Platinum    100%

Gold     25%

So that makes your redeemable miles even more rewarding on this itinerary.

This could be a great time to contact American Airlines and request a status challenge, if you have not already achieved status with the airline.  Currently the only way I know of to begin, or enter this challenge is to call American Airlines.  You can call them at (888) 697-5636. The cost for the Platinum Challenge is $200 and the Gold Challenge is less at $100.

As you can see from the calendars and flight schedules I have posted you have a lot of options!  The easiest way to book this is to use the link I have provided you below:

*NOTE: Make sure you sign into your AAdvantage Account before you click on this booking link.

Anyway here are the numbers:

The Details:

EQM’s:     2383 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM’s)

RDM’s:     4766 for Executive Platinum and Platinum Elites, 2979 for Gold Elites

Ticket Price:  $72

Cost:   3.0 Cents Per Mile (CPM)

We hope you enjoy this great find!

I think American is really kicking it when it comes to some great mileage runs and competitive fares!  I have seen more fare wars and attacks in the past 72 hours than I have seen in a long, long time! With the mileage bonuses for elites, it is almost too good to turn down; especially if you go for a status challenge.  The mileage runs we post are excellent vehicles for you to meet your status requirements.  Be advised, however, that American’s award chart changes for travel booked on or after March 22nd of this year and they will be going to a revenue-based earnings program (almost identical to Delta’s) in the “latter half of 2016.”

I am really excited about the possibilities for big Mileage Runs as American is sure to take Delta on more aggressively this year and as posturing for the Asia markets increases.

Thank you for visiting and following us, hopefully throughout 2016 here at Renes Points and Elite Mileage Runs  Best Wishes and Happy Travels.   Enjoy your travels!  – John @laptoptravel

I know this is not an ideal Mileage Run, but let me say that it is really getting ugly here the last few days to take a Mileage Run before 2015 ends.  I am hearing from a lot of you that you “just need something” to get you over the MQM hump for the year. On the plus side it is a WEEKEND RUN, and it is after the big Holiday!

Okay; here you go.  This is 8,654 Medallion Qualification Miles for less than $900.  Truthfully, we are approaching a 10 Cents per Mile (CPM) starting price for Mileage Runs of any real length.  So many people are flying for vacations, their own Mileage Runs and I have seen a lot of flyers these past few weeks cashing in their Regional and Global Upgrade Certificates.

I wish I had some good First Class Mileage Runs, and I will get back to searching for those after this post. Well, hopefully many of you were able to capitalize on our previous two First Class Elite Mileage Runs last week.

So, I am sending you far away to Anchorage on this Mileage Run. Let me prepare you and tell you these aircraft between Minneapolis and Anchorage are worn out planes from Northwest.  Delta still flies these since they carry so much cargo/mail.

As you can see by the posted calendar, there are a handful of dates that work in December, and the prices get so  much better in January, if you want to start the year off with another run.

The Details:

MQM’s:  8654 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQM’s)

Ticket Price:  $854

Cost:   10.6 Cents Per Mile (CPM)

Bookable on Delta.com
