I am very proud of Delta right now due to their amazing actions ahead of hurricane Irma. They have also been very smart considering the price gouging laws in Florida. Take a look at the FIRST CLASS prices capped under $400 to get out of Miami to Atlanta. No one could complain that is not a very fair one-way fare (even cheap) to fly last minute in 1st class.

Heck, even when we look at last minute SkyMiles tickets they are down right cheap for an award ticket one way! That, by itself, is just amazing. But it gets even better.

Look at the coach prices to escape from the coming destructive hurricane. I would say these are down right reasonable (and yet not giving away seats for $99 each). And now look at the coach SkyMiles award prices

Just WoW right? Just over a “stock” hidden award chart level 1 award price. That also is impressive to me. Additionally they are even waiving bag fees and pet fees to make sure no one has any excuse to remain in harm’s way rather than evacuating on a Delta jet!

Plus on top of all of this Delta is even adding a bunch of flights and doing whatever they can to get as many folks out of harm’s way as they can. They even pushed it to the last possible minute and flew flights out of Puerto Rico as Irma approached. Flat – Out – Stunning.

Operationally Delta is the best airline in the world and they have shown it this week. They are clearly both every day and in case of emergency the airline to fly. This Diamond Medallion is proud to call Delta my airline of choice! – René

  1. Unfortunately, there are no flights left. I never thought to fly my mom out because I thought it would be way too expensive. Thanks to you, I checked and there are only two flights that can be booked and when you hit check seats, there are none. But, the pride isn’t bad, considering. The plan was to have a friend drive her out so that’s what they will do. But, thanks, just the same.

  2. Or maybe it’s just the dreaded black out of seats and you have to call to pick a seat. So, please, don’t hesitate to look if that will help anyone!

Thank you for this post. I agree with your sentiments toward Delta, and I am ashamed of a B- celebrity calling to boycott Delta on twitter for price gouging. Seems a computer glitch quoted an incorrect fair from Miami to Phoenix and social media went crazy. Delta fixed the problem within the hour, but I’m sure that won’t get as many retweets.
Wish these pseudo celebrities had as much class as Delta.

  4. That must have started the day after Delta tried to charge my sister $1400 to fly from Fort Myers to Atlanta.
