One of the great deals with the Skyteam partner has been Air France. I many times book seats with a ton of connections with AF and the wait for schedule change and switch the Delta that would be 200k+ business class seats that I locked in for 100k.

Another great feather has been booking PE and using SWU’s from Delta to upgrade to BIZ. According to this post at Flyer Talk’s the Gate (HT to Canarsie) that may now be over.

I have reached out to my Delta contact but have yet to get a repose so I can not 100% confirm this post but this would indeed be bad news. Also some FT’er are reporting “O” or biz class AF seats drying up. This would not shock me as AF is hemorrhaging money big time. The good low level award space with Skymiles has been outstanding. But again, I still am working to confirm all this.

At least it is the weekend right? – René

EDIT: Some hopeful news from Reader Buddy M who says:

“I have an award itinerary on hold that the Delta reps are still working on because KLM withdrew a seat in business class from ZRH to AMS before I could redeem it. They are trying to get the seat confirmed but a rep told me they are in negotiations with AF and KLM right now so they(AF and KLM) are withholding most of the low level award seats. The rep said that hopefully they would come to an agreement in a couple of weeks and then things would go back to normal.”

    • @Buddy – this is some GREAT news. That would not shock me that this is a tit-for-tat kinda thing. MANY THANKS for sharing! – Rene

  3. I just got off the phone with DL. About 45 minutes of trying to sort out options, it seems that the ‘memo’ stated that there are no more SWU upgrades to business on AF. Since O could only be accessed by W or S fares, the only option is to upgrade from economy to premium. Grrrrr.
