Two YouTube travel vloggers self-isolating in a Singapore hotel room gave their housekeeper a big surprise: a $500 tip.
Kara & Nate — a married couple who are full-time travelers and digital nomads — spent about two weeks in Singapore after a mad dash from the Philippines.
Nate says in the video this trip was the longest they’ve ever spent in one hotel. He added that the couple “developed a bit of a relationship with housekeepers” during their stay.
As a way of saying thank you, they decided to leave their housekeeper the equivalent of US $500.
They set up not-so-hidden cameras throughout the room and wrote a note expressing their gratitude. Then the pair requested housekeeping service before hanging out near the elevators.
The housekeeper enters, sees the fan of cash, takes a picture of the loot — and leaves it while doing her job.
In the end, Kara & Nate — who have about 1.4 million followers on YouTube — had to rush back into the room and insist she take the cash.
The couple acknowledged the good living they’ve made through YouTube — and saw this as a way of sharing their fortune.
