A Delta Air Lines flight was diverted last night — reportedly because a passenger died during the trip.
CBS Sacramento says that DL1837 — originally intended for a non-stop hop from Los Cabos, Mexico (SJD) to Seattle (SEA) — diverted to Sacramento International (SMF) on Thursday.
Anna Giles writes, “airport fire personnel pronounced the person dead at the scene… The Sacramento County coroner’s office responded to the airport to retrieve the person. It appears the person died of natural causes, the coroner’s office said.”
A Delta spokesperson told us:
Delta flight 1837 operating to Seattle diverted to Sacramento International Airport following an onboard passenger medical situation. The flight was met in Sacramento by medical personnel where they attended to the passenger on site.
The flight continued on to Seattle with the rest of the original passengers and arrived in Seattle shortly after 9 PM PST. (About an hour and a half behind schedule.)
