A passenger’s unborn child apparently didn’t want to miss the fun of a trip to Hawaii: the little tot was born during the middle of a Delta flight to Honolulu!

Plus, a man fell more than 100 feet while taking a selfie — and was saved by the ocean tide.

Those are some of today’s travel-related headlines I thought you, too, may find interesting.

Premature Baby Born During a Delta Flight to Hawaii

Well, this is certainly a more joyous occasion than, say, the biweekly Spirit passenger fights.

A Delta Air Lines passenger gave birth to a bouncing baby boy last Wednesday — while her flight was en route to Hawaii.

NBC News reports Lavinia “Lavi” Mounga was traveling from Salt Lake City to Honolulu when she went into labor. Her son, Raymond, was soon born. Ms. Mounga was 29 weeks along. (Both mom and baby are reportedly doing well.)

Here’s the part I found especially interesting:

…a doctor and three neonatal nurses … happened to be on board.

Without medical equipment for a premature baby on the airplane, the doctor and nurses used a couple of shoelaces to tie and cut through the umbilical cord, made baby warmers out of microwaved bottles, and used an Apple Watch to measure the baby’s heart rate. The medical team kept the baby stable for three hours until the plane landed.

That’s some serious MacGyver stuff right there.

And, of course, there’s a souvenir TikTok video.

@juliaberniceIt’s the ‘baby being born while we’re above the Pacific Ocean’ for me

It’s a good thing the new family flew Delta. It could’ve been much different if they took American Airlines.

Ocean Tide Saves Selfie Taker

How is this for lucky?

The Sun reports that a 28-year-old tourist fell off a cliff while posing for a selfie.

Five friends he was with looked on in horror as he disappeared over the precipice and plummeted towards the ground after reportedly posing for a snap on Old Harry Rocks, near Swanage.

Luckily, the tide was in at the time and the man landed in shallow water…

Incredibly, the man was conscious and talking and was said to have only suffered cuts and bruises in the sheer fall.

Anyone else suddenly have Blondie stuck in their head?
