Thanksgiving week is already here! Where are you traveling this week? Or are you staying as far away from airport madness as possible?

As for this past week, congratulations to René, who marked his 8-year blogiversary last Sunday!

After reading my post about the easiest, fastest $50 you’ll ever make, René and his wife, Lisa, signed up for SoFi. How did they do? $150 in five minutes. Read about their experience.

How did the de Lamberts celebrate? By saving almost 50% on a tank of gas, of course.

We’ll try to find some good mileage runs this week. For those of you going through London (maybe on the JNB runs), check out our review of a fantastic place to stay during an extended LHR layover.

A double bed is seen inside a room at the Holiday Inn Express London Heathrow T4 (LHR airport hotel) in Hounslow, United Kingdom.

Remember you can occasionally earn miles and points when paying with points!

Or if you really want to save money, check out this Japanese hotel that charges only a buck — but with a catch.

A Delta passenger received a bizarre nastygram from the mothership. René wrote about the letter — and reminds us to be careful when taking advantage of certain privileges. Was Delta blowing smoke?

Speaking of Delta and smoke, passengers on this Madrid to JFK Delta flight had to evacuate for that reason.

Also on the Delta front, the airline announced they’re indefinitely suspending service to Haiti.

If you’re using rideshare this weekend, remember to use a credit card rewarding you for your transit purchases! Here are our picks.

While we’re talking about credit cards, my Delta Reserve consumer Amex was up for renewal the other day. I called American Express to cancel the card. Here’s how my “It’s Not Me, It’s You” chat went.

Costco members: as of this posting, Delta gift cards are still 10% off!

The Upcoming Week

Before we get to the usual Delta and more travel news from other sources, just a heads-up I’ll keep my eyes peeled all week — especially starting Friday — for great Black Friday and early Cyber Monday specials on travel, accessories, and more.

I’ll also poke around for mileage runs. Remember if you have a special request or need, the Juicy Miles people can help.

  1. I’d love to see some mileage runs departing from DTW. They don’t seem to occur very often, at least that’s my casual observation.
